thrifting adventure

rings and things...

I spent my day off running around town thrift shopping with Kev.  We had a ball and I ended up with a few bags of vintage treasures, including this amazing vintage skirt I scored for 3 bucks at Value Village!  So very Carrie Bradshaw!!
After our thrifting adventure I met up with my family at a hole in the wall pizza joint to celebrate my Grandpa's 81st birthday...and, of course, I had to show off my new fabulous skirt purchase!
A day full of friends, family, thrifting, pizza, birthday cake and fun!  What more could a girl ask for?!
Wearing vintage skirt, H&M cropped tee, Bakers wedges, purse and earrings, random and vintage rings.
Total cost of outfit: about $90
Happy Friday, Everyone!!

A quick trip to DC

My man and I recently made a quick trip up to DC for a friend's wedding and since he had never been to our nation's capital before we made a point to squeeze in a little bit of sightseeing!  We spent the first day walking the grounds around to all of the monuments.  We saw just about EVERYTHING on that day, walked for miles, and had a blast!
Wearing thrifted vintage shorts, H&M cropped tee, Bakers sandals and bag, favorite gold watch, Walmart hat and sunglasses.
Total cost of outfit: about $70
On our second day of sightseeing we hit up the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.  From lifesize dinosaur skeletons to a real giant squid to mummies and animals, we saw it all!
Wearing (amazing!) wide-leg pants from Macy's, old random tank, Bakers sandals and bag, and vintage necklace.
Total cost of outfit: about $85
And last, I just had to snap a pic of this girl we saw on our first day while walking around the Washington Monument.  How much am I loving her little flag purse?!  Suttle, fashionable, and oh so patriotic!
Hope everyone is enjoying a fanastic week!!

always evolving, ever changing

I've been gone for a few months, I know, but I'm back again and ready to continue sharing my love of vintage, my crazy outfits and my love of fashion with you!
As I mentioned awhile back, my vintage store suffered an electrical fire in December.  It was always my intention to reopen but unfortunately due to the length of time both the insurance settlement and the reconstruction took we had to keep our doors shut for good.  It was a heartbreaking conclusion to realize, but I'm a firm believer in "everything happens for a reason" - and apparently God had other plans for me.  So, I cried for a few days (no joke) and then I picked myself up and began to seek out a new adventure for this next chapter in life.  And wouldn't you know it....it lead me to managing the amazing shoe store, Bakers!  I am truly blessed to have found a new home with such a wonderful company and to have come into a store with such an awesome staff.  And, I won't lie, the discount and plethera of beautiful shoes doesn't hurt either.
Not only was I faced with many new challenges in my career and everyday work life, but I also came head to head with a fashion challenge - how to combine my crazy vintage personal style with that of the "Bakers Girl".  Its an always evolving, ever changing, transformation - but I'm loving it and having fun with it!
All that said, this is today's outfit.  I do have a bunch of pictures stored up from over the past few months that I will start putting up, but I wanted to start with today's look for my first day back in the blogging world.
Wearing vintage skirt from tag*, thrifted shirt, Walmart hat, favorite gold watch, Bakers earrings and shoes...and how amazing are those shoes?!
Total cost of outfit: about $55
Happy Monday, Everyone!
Its good to be back!

forever timeless

Can we please take a moment and discuss this dress??
Another shining example of why I love wearing vintage!  There is nothing better than a beautiful vintage dress - always fashionable and forever timeless.  This beauty sat in the shop for entirely too long, I even marked it down a few times before finally deciding it must mean it was meant to find a place in my closet.  So home it came and there it hung until the perfect occasion. I mean a dress this special, from the fabulous decade of the 1970s, deserves a special debut...So, Easter 2012 it was!
And now allow me to show you the back of the dress.  And I know you
you all know how I feel about great back detail...
My man and I spent the holiday traveling between our two family celebrations.  The day included a tasty brunch with his wonderful family and a delicious lunch with mine. Then we headed home to get a little yardwork in before we retired to the couch for some Sunday night tv, leftovers and snuggle time with our pups.
All in all, a beautifully blessed day.

Wearing vintage dress and clutch from tag*, Aldo wedges, h&m ring and gifted earrings from my man's parents.
Total cost of outfit: about $55

Whether you spent the weekend celebrating Easter, or Passover, or just life in general, I hope everyone had a great one!

we'll ride them someday

I know I've dreamed you a sin and a lie
I have my freedom but I don't have much time
Faith has been broken tears must be cried
Let's do some living after we die
Wild horses, couldn't drag me away
Wild wild horses we'll ride them someday
Wild horses, couldn't drag me away
Wild wild horses we'll ride them someday

one day at a time

I know.  I know.  I haven't posted a new outfit in forever!  But, as I've mentioned, some crazy stuff happened that turned my life upside down a bit.  My vintage store, tag, suffered an electrical fire on December 14th, which forced us to close while we worked to clean and rebuild.  Now, over 3 months later, I have learned how truly devestating an event like this is and how long it takes to recover.  So I continue to take one day at a time and just move forward in the hopes that one day soon it will all come together and we will be able to reopen our doors bigger and better than ever.  But until that day comes, I spend my days occupied with paperwork, and inventorying, and dealing with insurance and so on and so forth.  So needless to say, there hasn't been much time for dressing up and blogging out.  But I've missed it, and all of you, so I figured its about time I made the time....
Here's a look back at what I wore one day before all this beautiful weather came our way...
Wearing vintage western from tag*, cargo jacket and bag from Marshalls, Seven for All Mankind jeans, thrifted belt and hat, H&M ring, and boots from DSW.

Lots more posts coming your way soon...
