What A Long Strange Trip It's Been

I spent about an hour this morning in my basement digging through a huge bin of old pictures to find some classic ones to share with you all.  I wanted to find some of Jen and me to show you our history together.  The earliest ones I could find, though, start Sophomore year in high school.  I did find some from my 7th grade birthday slumber party, but there weren't any of just the two of us...but I can tell you Jen was sporting some rockin braces back then.  Not sure what happened to all my pics from 8th to 10th grade, must've gotten lost somewhere along the way.  Anyway, let the history lesson begin...

Me doing Jen's hair...shocking! I think it was Valentine's Day and Jen wanted a fancy hairdo...

Ready to go break some hearts ;-)

We had a bunch of classes together over the years...and, yes, Jen's hair really WAS that short and mine really is THAT curly.

Goofing around at cheerleading camp one summer...yeah, we were cheerleaders...hard to believe, I know

Kicking ass and taking names at Turkey Bowl...the football game between Junior Girls and Senior Women.  The game the next year (our senior year) was so violent and there was so much drama between the girls off the field, Parkway West cancelled all future Turkey Bowl games...whoops!

Jenna accompied my family to Florida on Spring Break junior year.  This was taken after getting rained on at a Cardinals spring training game.

This was right after we got back from that Spring Break trip.  Jenna came home to a new bassett hound puppy!!  Meet Miss Mona...was she not the cutest puppy?!  She's still kickin' it today...stinky as ever!

Senior year homecoming week - our theme was Disney.  I was Cinderella and Jenna was Belle...pretty pretty princesses

Senior year Homecoming dance - apparently it was the year of red dresses...and red roses

Senior year King of Hearts dance

Chillin together on a trip for cheerleading - one of my all time favorite pics of us

Sometime Senior year....dressed, on accident, as twins.  Great minds think alike, I guess!

Senior year Spring Break - apparently we thought we were gangstas

Hitting the beach the same Spring Break

Senior Prom - my favorite dance outfit I ever wore

P West - class of '01

I was Jenna's hot date to a wedding...that dress was borrowed from her, because at the time I didn't own any dresses nice enough for a wedding.  I mostly lived in jeans (or gym pants) and t-shirts...I've come a long way

In Jenna's dorm at Cape.  I was in school at FIT in NYC at the time and had just witnessed 9/11.  School was cancelled for a week and all I wanted to do was be with my loved ones,so I hitched a bus ride home.  And then, of course, had to go surprise my BFF!

Cutting down the annual Manges family Christmas tree...

Yet another Spring Break spent together.  We headed to New Orleans to visit one of Jen's brothers.  Justin lives in the Big Easy and welcomed us with open arms for their St. Patrick's Day celebration.  St. Patrick's Day in New Orleans is quite the party!  (Oh, and just in case you're wondering, it goes Jason, Justin, Jarrett and then Jenna...apparently Bob and Clarice really loved the letter J)

Same Spring Break we headed over to Biloxi, Missippi.  Justin had the hookup with an awesome hotel room.  Here we are goofin' around in the bathtub

Mash Bash - not really sure how to explain it...a CRAZY party hosted by a frat at Cape.  Let's just say it involved camo, water guns filled with liquor, baby pools filled with mud, a huge hill covered in baby oil and slip 'n slides....Need I say more?

At IU to help our friend, Liz, celebrate her 21st birthday.  The weekend started out great....

...but ended up with me in the hospital getting my appendix removed.

And a few years later...Jen and I camping at a Widespread Panic show in Indiana.  We danced our little booties off and then slept outside under the stars...woke up to it raining on us!

Doing this post makes me miss Jen more than ever!!  Hope it gave you a little insight to us and our friendship...15 years and counting!
xoxo - Laney Mae
