She Tries To Live By The Golden Rule

I will keep this one short and sweet since I already did 2 posts today!  Wearing Anna Sui for Target dress (one of my new favs!), fringe suede vest from Forever21, black textured tights from Target, old black boots from Payless, my big gold watch and a random collection of bracelets...some vintage.  My headband was a quick DIY project made from vintage fabric scraps which I cut into long strips and braided together.
Total Cost: about $85 (the dress was $45 which is more than I would normally pay, but I loved it and was having a lousy day that day so I treated myself)

"Radio High-Five"

Thought I'd share these two pics....had to be at the store this morning at 8 (I normally don't get here until a little before 11) to wait for AT&T...a technician would be here sometime between 8 and noon.  So, I weighed my options on how to spend that time and decided to chill in my car with my huge travel mug of coffee and listen to "Wake Up With Taylor" on the Cosmo Sirius station.  I am fully obsessed with Sirius and love love love that morning show!  (If you have either Sirius or XM be sure to check it out...if you don't have either of those, look into getting one because it is so worth it!)  Unfortunately I usually only get to listen to it on my way to work...but this morning I had the pleasure of tuning in for a good 2 hours!  Anyway, rolled my windows down, listened to the Wake Up Crew and enjoyed the beautiful morning.  The first pic is of the view out my window.  And the second is of the phone box that was knocked off the building...hence the no phone/internet service.

The More I See The Less I Know

This should have been posted yesterday, but our phone line and internet were down (again) at the store.  Apparently, the trash truck keeps knocking down the phone line in the back parking lot.  No worries, though, the nicest man from AT&T came this morning to fix it...and he moved the line farther over to avoid any more run-ins with the trash truck.  John, you are my hero! :-)
Because summer in the STL is so hot/humid, I have lived in dresses for the past 4 months.  They're easy and breezy.  But after a summer full of laidback looks and minimal effort on my part, I am ready for fall fashion and actual outfits!
I went thrifting Monday and found all sorts of fun stuff.  Yesterday I showed off a few of my finds.  Wearing tan cropped trousers (well actually they're a petite size, which on me is of course a tad short...and that's just the way I like it!) found for $3 at Goodwill, a boy's Ralph Lauren blue buttondown also found at Goodwill for $3.  I added a vintage leopard print belt from tag* and brown gladiator-esque heels from Target.  I accessorized with awesome vintage clipon earrings from a thrift store, my silver watch and a few random vintage bracelets.  Felt as though I was dressed like an actual "grown-up"
Total cost: about $40

Even If You're Miles Away

Just in case you hadn't noticed, its Jenna's birthday!  She is feeling a tad homesick today so I decided to bombard her with birthday greetings from all directions!  You'll see, Jen  :-)
Today I had to wear something that makes me think of the birthday girl, so I figured it was time to break out the vintage silver highwaisted 80s harem (or is it Hammer?) pants.  Jen gave these to me from her store...should I be flattered that she always sends me the stuff no one else wants?  Hmm....
Anyway, paired with a black burnout tank from Forever (Jenna's not the only one who loves that store...I think we can all agree it rocks!), black peeptoe booties from Target, a vintage necklace from tag*, some old bangles all from ABC Trading (another store that rocks) and my silver watch which was a 21st birthday present from my girls Liz and Mar.
Total cost: about 50 bucks...score!
Happy Birthday, Jen and Happy Friday, Everyone!!

These boots are made for walking....or to dance on a pole ;)

Last night I tried on this outfit to get my husband's opinion. His verdict?    "No I don't like it. Your boots look like stripper boots." So what do I do? I send Laney a pic and ask her opinion even though I know I'm going to wear them anyway. It helps to have your best friend back up your decision and of course she did. Shocking!! The dress I'm wearing is vintage and from my store. It was floor length before I cut it. My necklace is from Wet Seal. My boots are Chinese Laundry and are super dirty but I wear them anyway. I got them two years ago before the "over the knee" trend was so popular. Tomorrow is my 27th birthday. I totally have mixed feelings about it because it's my first birthday away from my family and friends back in St. Louis. I will be strong though and get through my homesickness and enjoy the day because I do have my amazing husband and crazy older brother to celebrate it with! See you tomorrow because you know I'm going to rock an awesome outfit for my birthday!!! The total cost of my outfit is $120 -Jenna

Love Means Never Having To Say You're Sorry

A gloomy day in the STL...although sometimes I like a little bit of gloom.
With fall having officially arrived earlier this week I found myself looking to one of my all time favorite chick flicks for inspiration - Love Story.  I don't know what it is about fall, but it always makes me think of college campuses decorated in ivy and leaves.  Love Story perfectly demonstrates 70s collegiate fashion at its best.  A little bit hippie, a little bit preppy, with a touch of conservative....but always stylish.
Went with my vintage highwaisted wideleg plaid pants from tag*, a gray pocket tank from Gap, brown braided leather belt from Target and Kenzie brown leather cutout slingback wedges.  Accessorized with what has quickly become my favorite hat, my big gold watch, blue jeweled vintage pinky ring, gold vintage cuff, wood/gold bangle, with small gold butterfly necklace and long carved leaf pendant necklace.
Total outfit: about $125 (my watch and butterfly necklace were both gifts, the tank was on sale, the hat and cuff are both from thrift stores, and the shoes were a little pricey but I've had them forever.  A majority of my shoes were purchased back in the good old days of bartending and making way more money than any college student needs...what else was a girl to spend her money on?!)
So wishing I could be with Jen tomorrow to help her celebrate turning 27!!

Time To Go To Work Again

This dress has been hanging unworn in my closet forever.  I have started to wear it a couple different times, but for some reason or another always ended up changing at the last minute.  So, I decided today is the day!  And, I am so loving it!  Very Man Men-esque.
Wearing vintage dress from tag* with a vintage belt I found at Goodwill.  My heels are about 6 years old, but are BCBG faux snakeskin slingbacks and are fabulous!  I accessorized with my big gold watch and vintage cuff (again), faux pearl bracelets from Target and a vintage pinky ring.
Total cost of outfit - about $100 (I blame the shoes - but in all fairness, I have had them for about 6 years and have definitely gotten my money's worth)

Up And Down The Boulevard

Wasn't really loving any of the pics Mom took today...but wanted to at least post a few since we spent about 30 minutes snapping them.  So, here are the two I hated the least.
Wearing vintage scarf from tag*, a t-shirt tunic from Forever 21, and my awesome 4 1/2 inch gladiator heels with braided detail.  Accessorized with my huge gold watch (purchased at Sam's Club...you'd be surprised at their jewelry selection!), a vintage cuff purchased for $1 at Goodwill, and my Sagittarius pendant necklace Jen got me for my birthday last year purchased from her store.  I am a total Sag, too, so it was the perfect bday gift  :-)
Speaking of birthdays....Jenna's is just around the corner!

Five foot eight and a little bit of bling....

I really shocked myself this morning and actually put on some heels taller then 3 in. Laney will be so proud! Lets just hope I don't fall on my face today. It is STILL raining here in Gvegas so yet again I'm in jeans. My little jacket is vintage and it has adorable rhinestones on  the collar. My jeans are Earnest Sewn and my heels are from Target. My white tank top is from Forever 21 and my necklace is also vintage. Hopefully in the near future when the sun actually comes out I can get some better pics then these ones I've had to take in the store. (Total Outfit Cost= $ 170.00) -Jenna

Urban Cowboy

Ok, I lied, I'm posting one more today...Kev just looked too hot not to share!  America's Sweetheart is rocking Levis, a vintage western and vintage cowboy boots both from tag*, a Hot Topic cuff, and "borrowed" aviators.  Be jealous.

Brown Eyed Women

Just a quick post today, since the History of Jenna and Laney post took me forever!  And, we're busy here at the store, so not much time for blogging.
Was feeling geeky this morning - must've been the trip down memory lane and remembering just how much of a dork I really am.  Wearing a fabulous vintage maxi dress from tag* with an amazing ascot neck.  Paired it with a couple of faux pearl bracelets from Target and a vintage pinky ring from tag*.  Sporting my black Burberry lenses...the only designer items I own are my two pairs of glasses.
Gotta run!  Won't be posting again until Monday...so, have a great weekend!!

What A Long Strange Trip It's Been

I spent about an hour this morning in my basement digging through a huge bin of old pictures to find some classic ones to share with you all.  I wanted to find some of Jen and me to show you our history together.  The earliest ones I could find, though, start Sophomore year in high school.  I did find some from my 7th grade birthday slumber party, but there weren't any of just the two of us...but I can tell you Jen was sporting some rockin braces back then.  Not sure what happened to all my pics from 8th to 10th grade, must've gotten lost somewhere along the way.  Anyway, let the history lesson begin...

Me doing Jen's hair...shocking! I think it was Valentine's Day and Jen wanted a fancy hairdo...

Ready to go break some hearts ;-)

We had a bunch of classes together over the years...and, yes, Jen's hair really WAS that short and mine really is THAT curly.

Goofing around at cheerleading camp one summer...yeah, we were cheerleaders...hard to believe, I know

Kicking ass and taking names at Turkey Bowl...the football game between Junior Girls and Senior Women.  The game the next year (our senior year) was so violent and there was so much drama between the girls off the field, Parkway West cancelled all future Turkey Bowl games...whoops!

Jenna accompied my family to Florida on Spring Break junior year.  This was taken after getting rained on at a Cardinals spring training game.

This was right after we got back from that Spring Break trip.  Jenna came home to a new bassett hound puppy!!  Meet Miss Mona...was she not the cutest puppy?!  She's still kickin' it today...stinky as ever!

Senior year homecoming week - our theme was Disney.  I was Cinderella and Jenna was Belle...pretty pretty princesses

Senior year Homecoming dance - apparently it was the year of red dresses...and red roses

Senior year King of Hearts dance

Chillin together on a trip for cheerleading - one of my all time favorite pics of us

Sometime Senior year....dressed, on accident, as twins.  Great minds think alike, I guess!

Senior year Spring Break - apparently we thought we were gangstas

Hitting the beach the same Spring Break

Senior Prom - my favorite dance outfit I ever wore

P West - class of '01

I was Jenna's hot date to a wedding...that dress was borrowed from her, because at the time I didn't own any dresses nice enough for a wedding.  I mostly lived in jeans (or gym pants) and t-shirts...I've come a long way

In Jenna's dorm at Cape.  I was in school at FIT in NYC at the time and had just witnessed 9/11.  School was cancelled for a week and all I wanted to do was be with my loved ones,so I hitched a bus ride home.  And then, of course, had to go surprise my BFF!

Cutting down the annual Manges family Christmas tree...

Yet another Spring Break spent together.  We headed to New Orleans to visit one of Jen's brothers.  Justin lives in the Big Easy and welcomed us with open arms for their St. Patrick's Day celebration.  St. Patrick's Day in New Orleans is quite the party!  (Oh, and just in case you're wondering, it goes Jason, Justin, Jarrett and then Jenna...apparently Bob and Clarice really loved the letter J)

Same Spring Break we headed over to Biloxi, Missippi.  Justin had the hookup with an awesome hotel room.  Here we are goofin' around in the bathtub

Mash Bash - not really sure how to explain it...a CRAZY party hosted by a frat at Cape.  Let's just say it involved camo, water guns filled with liquor, baby pools filled with mud, a huge hill covered in baby oil and slip 'n slides....Need I say more?

At IU to help our friend, Liz, celebrate her 21st birthday.  The weekend started out great....

...but ended up with me in the hospital getting my appendix removed.

And a few years later...Jen and I camping at a Widespread Panic show in Indiana.  We danced our little booties off and then slept outside under the stars...woke up to it raining on us!

Doing this post makes me miss Jen more than ever!!  Hope it gave you a little insight to us and our friendship...15 years and counting!
