orange

Just a quick post to show what I wore yesterday. I love love love this poncho! The large open weave, the fringe, the crazy bright orange...its so much fun! I decided to wear it one-shouldered over this simple white dress. I added my turquoise wedges for another pop of color, and finished it off with gold accessories!
Wearing ebay white dress, vintage poncho from tag*, Target earrings and old wedges from Marshalls.
Total cost of outfit: about $50

hanging in the yard

Hanging in the backyard last Thursday with my man and our pups before heading out for a little dinner date night.
I know you all recognize our little black pup, Micah. Now allow me to introduce the newest addition to our family, Jackson the Boxer! We adopted him a couple of months ago from a wonderful local rescue organization, 4 Paws 4 Rescue. He was found starving to death in rural Missouri, someone had taken him out there and dumped him. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it. But, he's doing wonderful now that he's with us! Jackson (aka Buddy or The Dude, as we like to call him) is about a year old, and simply the cutest, goofiest boy ever! And, yes, him and Micah love each other and play constantly! We couldn't have asked for 2 better dogs :)
Wearing vintage dress and belt from tag*, Walmart hoops, and wedges from Marshalls
Total cost of outfit: about $35

So excited for this week! Going to see Warren Haynes with Jen tomorrow night at The Pageant (he is my absolute favorite musician and I've never seen him live before!), having another of our infamous slumber parties with Kev on Wednesday, and going to see a friend perform with my girl Tiffany on Thursday. Then...my awesome cousin (one of my favorite people in the entire world, who never ceases to make me laugh so hard it hurts) is coming in town with her daughter for the weekend! I'm only working a halfday on Saturday and spending the rest of it with my family hanging out down here in The Loop. Heading out with my man and our group of friends Saturday night to celebrate our girl Carmen's birthday. And, last but most certainly not least, going to the winery Sunday to see Jake's Leg with my man and our parents!   Best. Week. Ever!!!
Wishing you all a wonderful week, too!!

two of my favorite ladies around

My Mom, Grandma and myself celebrating Mother's Day 2011! Not really an outfit post, but couldn't help sharing this picture of two of my favorite ladies around!
We had a wonderful lunch at my parent's house and then my man and I headed over to his parent's for dinner and to celebrate his Mom, Diane, who is an equally fabulous Mom. It was a beautiful day full of moms, family, love and laughter :)
However...tomorrow is the real Mother's Day celebration for my mom and I. Brunch, vintage shopping, Goodwill Outlet store digging, and then maybe a movie. Can't wait!
Happy Saturday!

so long

Jenna and Clarice (Jen's mom) surprised me down here at the store a couple of weeks ago and it was just what I needed to make my day :)
It worked out well that my mom was here too, because it gave me the opportunity to walk and shop with them a bit while they were down here. Jenna bought me this awesome vintage skirt and a scarf while we were shopping...she's the best best friend ever!
Anyway, Kev spent the night the other day and he styled this outfit for me! Love it!! The cut of this skirt is simply perfect, its flows so beautifully! And, I rarely find a long skirt that is so long I get to wear heels with it...or wedges in this case. Usually they're just too darn short, but not this one!
Wearing thrifted vintage skirt, old random tank, thrifted vintage belt and purse, Walmart hat and hoops (scored the hat a few years ago for 5 bucks and I get the most compliments on it!), and Target wedges.
Total cost outfit: about $45
Speaking of Jenna....I can't wait for tomorrow night! My man and I are meeting up with her and her husband, Lance, to see a local Widespread Panic cover band. I am super stoked to get my hippie dance on with my favorite girl!!
Happy Friday!

determined to make it work

This top came into the shop awhile ago and I absolutely loved the print, but kind of hated the fit. I was determined to make it work though, so went ahead and just cut it right down the middle which turned it into this cute little vest top. And now its perfect!
I layered it over my vintage sheer bandage dress from tag*, thrifted belt, etsy feather earring and Target wedges.
Total cost of outfit: about $60

I traded my Tuesday afternoon off for Thursday this week, which means I'm off at 4 today! Ya-hoo! My tall drink of water is taking me out for dinner tonight and then we're hitting up Walmart and Home Depot on the way home...what an exciting life we lead ;)
Happy Thursday, Everyone!

playing dress up

I've been having a lot of fun playing dress up lately! I've been  kind of experimenting with my style and have definitely been having a love affair with color, prints and accessories. I think my outfits reflect the fun I've been having getting dressed in the morning. I especially love this look, the colors and cut of this vintage blouse are fantastic and I always love rocking a great hat.
Wearing vintage blouse, belt and cuff from tag*, thrifted vintage pants and hat, and Target wedges.
Total cost of outfit: about $35

Goodwill just opened an outlet store downtown which sells items by the pound!! I am seriously stoked about this! There is one down in Greenville, where Jenna used to live, and we went while I was in town visiting her last May. There were long troughs filled with belts and purses...amazing. That's where I picked up my crocodile buckle leather belt that's been featured on here numerous times. My mom and I are celebrating our Mother's Day this coming Sunday with a movie, brunch, and a trip to the Goodwill Outlet store!! Seriously. cant. wait.
Hope everyone's having a wonderful week!

Playing Catch-Up

Still trying to play catch-up here at the store. Posting another outfit from awhile back...April 29th to be exact.
I'm really loving 70s sportswear for this season and this vintage dress is a new piece I just added to my closet for that exact reason. I love the nude color, detailed shoulders, wide collar, tie waist, and pockets. Perfect. I've also been living in wedges for the past month. I have three pairs; the turquoise pair featured in this post, the hot pink pair, and the yellow wedges. They're amazingly comfortable for someone who has to be on her feet all day every day, and those three colors just happen to go with everything in my closet. I didn't realize it when I purchased them, but am finding it to be more and more true with each new outfit I put together. Love it!
Wearing vintage dress and jewelry from tag* and Mom, old wedges from Marshalls, and favorite Aldo purse.
Total cost of outfit: about $70

Shorts

So I found these red shorts at Walmart for 10 bucks and I love them! I've been struggling with wearing shorts lately because they're either way too short for my personal taste, or they're bermudas, which is just not what I want. These fit great and I love the length...not too long and not too short. I love a good bargain, and I'm no clothing snob - I will buy something anywhere, as long as I love it I don't care where its from.
Loving the red and turquoise together. And can't get enough of my yellow wedges from Target - Amazingly comfortable and they go with everything, I had no idea when I bought them that this would be the case, but its true!
Wearing Walmart shorts and lace-trim sports bra, vintage blouse, necklaces and bracelets from tag*, old random belt, Target shoes, and favorite Aldo purse.
Total cost of outfit: about $95

Its been a crazy busy long day here at the store. I'm exhausted, but it was fun! Lots of fun customers and new friends, tons of awesome merchandise out on the floor, lots of projects to keep me busy as well...I was determined to get as caught up around the shop as I could. We've arranged, added loads of awesome new pieces, and are stocked with more merchandise than ever! Its exciting! I will post pics next week.
And tomorrow I get to spend the day with the most kickass Mom around! I literally don't know what I (or the store) would do without her. She is amazing and sets the bar high!
Love you, Mom!
Happy Mother's Day to all you hard-working wonderful ladies out there!

PINK!

Its all about the accessories and shoes...
Another outfit from awhile back...
Its official, I'm in love with my pink wedges from Target! I purchased them online (because the pink color wasn't available in stores) but they were on backorder for almost 2 months. They finally arrived a couple of weeks ago and they're awesome! I had no idea how much I would wear them, but they seriously go with so much more stuff than I thought. Plus, they're super comfortable (which is a must for me since I'm on my feet all day every day) and its just not possible to be in a bad mood when you look down and see these bad boys on your feet. They always make me smile :) Funny side note...I'm wearing them right now while typing this post. Seriously...they go with everything!
Wearing F21 liquid leggings, thrifted animal print tunic, thrifted vintage belt, random cuff bracelets and necklace, and pink wedges from Target
Total cost of outfit: about $55
Can't believe its already Thursday....or May for that matter! Got a fun few days ahead of me. Kevin's coming over tonight for a little Sex and The City slumber party, my mom is with me at the shop tomorrow and Friday's are always fun and busy down here! Going to see the Jake's Leg tomorrow night and then lots and lots of family stuff on Sunday!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

its been awhile

Its all about back detail...
I know its been forever since I posted and I apologize! The store has been kicking my ass lately! (Which is a good thing! Lots of awesome new merchandise, super busy with customers, etc etc etc)
I have been taking pictures of my outfits, just haven't had the time to post them. Here's some pics from a couple weeks ago. I'm so in love with the print on this jacket! It is from the shop and sat on the rack for entirely too long...so, I finally gave in and now it lives in my closet :)
Wearing vintage jacket and shades from tag*, old random tank, gray skinny jeans I scored years ago at Marshalls for 3 bucks, and F21 Mary Janes.
Total cost of outfit: about $45
