'Scuse me while I kiss the sky

Purple haze all in my brain
Lately things just don't seem the same
Actin' funny, but I don't know why
'Scuse me while I kiss the sky

- Jimi Hendrix

So its officially fall, but its still just a little too warm here to dress like it today...bummer!  Oh well, just gave me an excuse to try a little harder with my outfit this morning.
As I'm sure you can tell by now, I'm a sucker for prints and colors.  So, of course, I'm really loving the jewel toned trend happening this fall.  I was going to just wear some black platform heels with this outfit, but spotted the purple booties and thought pairing the colors together would really make them both pop.  And purple just happens to be my favorite color.  Starting off the day in a fun outfit always puts me in a good mood :-)
Wearing vintage leather pants and jewelry from tag*, thrifted Banana Republic blouse, thrifted vintage belt, and purple booties from Payless.
Total cost of outfit: about $35
Can't believe its already Wednesday!  And what a beautiful Wednesday it is!

ChiTown

I just returned from a long weekend visiting friends in Chicago and, boy, was it a blast!  The weekend was filled with good friends, Cardinals vs Cubs games, shopping, eating, drinking, laughing, game playing, and fun times!
My plan was to have Ryan take pictures of every outfit I wore while there....but, friends and good times got in the way and we only ended up taking one.  This is essentially what I wore everyday while walking around the city.  The weather was absolutely beautiful, the perfect fall temperatures!
Wearing leggings from Walmart, old wedge boots, American Apparel tee, thrifted denim shirt/jacket, thrifted hat, vintage purse and jewelry.
Oh, and I came home to Jenna living back in St. Louis!!  I couldn't have asked for a better past few days!

Can music save your mortal soul

Did you write the book of love,
And do you have faith in God above,
If the Bible tells you so?
And do you believe in rock and roll,
Can music save your mortal soul
And can you teach me how to dance real slow?

A little Don McLean and some Rolling Stones, followed by Clapton and The Dead.  Not a bad way to start off my day.  Beautiful weather outside, great music playing, and daydreaming of the 70s...
Wearing vintage red high waisted pants and chambray western, accessoriezed with hand-made Native American earrings my parents brought back from their recent trip to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and vintage jewelry.
Happy Monday!

Falling in love all over again

I couldn't stop thinking about legwarmers yesterday, so I knew I had to dig out this knit pair Jenna got for me a few years back.  The second I put them on this morning I texted Jenna to tell her that I was wearing them and that I am falling in love with them all over again.  I layered them over my brown ankle boots and the combination of the two is a fun alternative to a tall boot.  And oh so cozy!
And have I mentioned Jenna's husband, Lance, just got a job here in St. Louis and they're moving home at the end of the month?!?!  There are no words :-)
Anyway....wearing F21 liquid leggings, Gap tank, DIY H&M cargo jacket I turned into a vest, H&M scarf, Payless ankle boots and brown knit legwarmers.
Total cost of outfit: about about $80
I sometimes find myself struggling to find casual comfortable outfits that are still stylish.  I've come to the conclusion I just really hate to wear flats in the fall and winter with the exception of cowboy boots.  I feel like flat shoes make my legs look stumpy and I hate it.  So, my go-to casual but stylish outfits this fall will include leggings, layers up top, scarves and/or hats, and either boots or legwarmers.  We're going to Chicago at the end of the month and I think I am going to live in outfits like this.  Yay!!  Can't wait!
Happy Friday, Everyone!!

"If you give off signals that you don't belong, people will make sure that you don't."

Yesterday was Day 2 of St. Louis Fashion Week. The event was held at Saks in Plaza Frontenac...and let's just say Kevin and I were definitely fish out of water. We laughed as we compared ourselves to the "outcast" punk kids that exist in most 80s movies (particularly Pretty In Pink). You know the kids, the ones who are sitting outside on the stairs with their shades on, smoking cigs while music blares from boomboxes. Yeah, we were those kids in a sea of prettiness. Too funny.
After heading out of the show early, we found ourselves in Forest Park driving around enjoying the beautiful night until we ended up in front of the Spanish Pavillion and stopped for shots in front of the color-changing fountain.
Kevin killed it in vintage boots from tag*, Levi's, Target tshirt, and accessorized with a lowslung belt, biker glove, shades, and a sick new haircut.
I went more street style with my outfit than the night before, wearing vintage boyscout shorts, thrifted animal print blouse, vintage belt and jewelry, and ebay boots.
Total cost of outfit: about $45

Eyeliner and Cigarettes

I'll be your girl
Backstage at your show
Velvet ropes and guitars
Yeah cause you'll know
I'm staring between the sets
Eyeliner and cigarettes

Last night was the beginning of St. Louis Fashion Week.  Shows run Tuesday thru Saturday and are at different venues around St. Louis.  Kev and I chose 3 of the 5 shows to attend starting last night with the Project Design Runway Show.  Had a great time with Kev, saw some seriously stylish people (bringing my camera out with me tonight to try to capture some of those people), and really enjoyed the show.  One of the designers in the show is a customer here at the store and she has modeled in a photo shoot for us, so it was really fun to see her get to debut her collection!  We also ran into some of our favorite customers at the show!  I love seeing regulars outside of the store, it always makes my day :-)
Kev rocked a new haircut and new Levi's, vintage boots, vintage tuxedo shirt and vest, and glasses all from tag*.  He looked soo good!

This is my fiercest model pose ;-)
We played around taking pictures in the alley back at the store after the show.  Good times!
I was stressing trying to figure out what to wear last night, until I realized I needed to just calm down and put on something I love and feel comfortable in...and wouldn't you know it, I ended up in a long vintage dress.  Shocking, I'm know :-)
Wearing long vintage dress and vintage jewelry from tag* and Payless sandals.
Hope everyone is having a great week!  Stay tuned for more pics tomorrow....

reaching new heights

Head to toe...
Been lusting over the Miu Miu Mary Jane platforms for months now, so finally broke down and purchased the pair from F21...I'm a sucker for a cute shoe under 30 bucks!
I thought I was pretty kickass at walking, driving, dancing, living in heels...but these bad boys have taken a little getting used to.  I mean, they are 5 1/2 inches...Which means, if I did my math correctly, the top of my head is scraping the 6ft 2in mark.  Now, you'd think I'd feel enormous (which, ok, I kind of do) but when you live with a 6ft 4in, 230 lb man...your idea of enormous tends to be a tad different than most.
Wearing vintage dress from tag*, F21 Mary Janes, vintage earrings and random bracelets.
Total cost of outfit: about $40

Isn't she lovely

My outfit didn't pan out quite the way I was hoping this morning, so I turned the camera on my mom instead.  Doesn't she look great?!
Terri is wearing a vintage dress from tag*, thrifted denim shirt, old jewelry, belt and birks.
I love my mom's style!  Since she has started working here at tag* with me she has really gotten into working on her personal style through vintage and thrifting...and her style is seriously rockin these days!  Kevin and I are always excited to see what she's wearing and how she has dressed the mannequins.  So much fun!

Come do some shopping on Tuesdays and Thursday and you'll catch my mom working the store, too!!
Happy Thursday!
