Photo Shoot

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!! We sure did! But, as always, it went by way too fast and today its back to reality...
I did a photo shoot a few months back for the Bakers Shoes fashion website, Shoeternity.com. Just got the pictures and thought I'd share a few. All of the outfits are from my closet, which of course means a majority of the pieces are either vintage or thrifted.
I'll be back later this week with more daily outfit posts.

Flannel

Snapped a quick pic tonight kind of as an afterthought.  I didn't really pay much attention when I got ready this morning, just grabbed comfy and warm pieces...but I walked by the full length mirror at the store just now and decided it was post-worthy.  Nothing special, just a typical Laney winter outfit....although I did just realize I accessorized with mannequin clips still attached to my vest. Ha! The clips are what I use to fit clothing to the mannequins and I've been busy dressing them today and totally forgot they were still clipped to me! Typical.
Leggings, my trusty vintage boots, Target vest and socks, vintage flannel and jewelry.
Total cost of outfit: about $60
I can't believe its already the week of Christmas!  I don't know where December went...it must be with November somewhere because they both got away from me!  Cramming all my Christmas preperation into this week, nothing like waiting to the last minute!
I might be cutting it a little close, but its still a wonderful and blessed time of year!  I love Christmas :-)
Happy happy holidays!

Steppin' Up

Ok, so I totally have to geek out for a moment and apologize for it in advance...
I loooove dancing movies like the girly dork that I am.  I was cleaning my room last night and came across a pair of black legwarmers I had completely forgotten about.  I was instantly determined to wear them today and wanted to go with a "dancer" vibe. I texted Kevin and asked for his thoughts on how to rock the look. Now, let me go back a few years....
Step Up came out while Jenna and I were living together and around the time we first met Kevin.  What a fun time in my life that was!  Anyway, I of course bought it as soon as it came out on dvd and proceeded to make Jenna watch it with me like 100 times.  The more I watched it, the more I fell in love with all of Nora's outfits.  Tights, leggings, legwarmers, bodysuits, flowy skirts, soft sweaters, layers, boots, scarves....swoon. I remember the first day I decided I wanted to dress like her, I told Kevin that day at work, went home put together a dancer-esque outfit with pieces I already owned. I wore black leggings, black round toe platform pumps, a flowy white babydoll dress with a soft cardigan over it and a long scarf wrapped around my neck.  I remember walking into work and Kevin laughing and clapping because I really did come to work dressed like dancer :-)  It wasn't as cool as Nora, but I did the best with what I had. Sorry for the history lesson but just had to share where and when my love for this all begin...
This morning I decided I needed to set the mood for the day, so I popped in Step Up while folding laundry.  It did the trick! (Plus, it never hurts to start your day off with a little Channing Tatum...hottie!)
Wearing gray pumps, black legwarmers, vintage skirt, old tank and cardigan, H&M infinity scarf and vintage jewelry.
Total cost of outfit: about $60
Happy Happy Friday!

Caped

Hi Everyone!  Sorry for the lack in posts lately, I kind of took a little holiday/birthday break from blogging.  But I'm back and showing off my fabulous thrifted navy cape I just purchased over the weekend!  Jenna and I celebrated my birthday a day early and spent Sunday eating brunch, drinking mimosas, thrift shopping, and just having some quality best friend sista time...and it was such a great day!
My man and I both took off Monday (my 28th birthday!!) and enjoyed a lazy day around the house, then met my parents to see Morning Glory, followed by dinner at Zia's.  It is my all-time favorite Italian restaurant here in St. Louis.  If you ever get a chance to go, be sure to order the Baked Ravioli, its my favorite!
Wearing thrifted cape, old F21 leggings and tunic, and vintage belt and jewelry.
Total cost of outfit: about $60
Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!  I'm so excited the holiday season is upon us!

Starting the birthday celebration early....

Hope everyone had a beautiful holiday with family and friends!  We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and we have so many things to be thankful for this year!
Its Black Friday so I'm just doing a quick post so I can get back to work...
Took these pictures on my grandparent's deck yesterday after our delicious turkey dinner.  My birthday is the 29th of this month, but I got to start the celebration a little early with a gift from my grandparents.  They just got back from a cruise and picked up this fabulous sash/scarf for me in the Bahamas.  Its so fun!  I threw it on with my outfit as a scarf/necklace, but I also plan on wearing around my hips and also as a swimsuit coverup.  So many options!
Gifted sash worn with Walmart leggings, old slouch brown boots, GAP tank, vintage draped jacket and vintage jewelry.
Total cost of outfit: about $100
Gotta run!!

Crushing

We all know how much I love this knit hat, as it has been featured on this blog too many times to count.  Well, apparently I'm crushing on these boots right now.  I found them on clearance at Marshals years ago.  I've worn them consistently over the years, but lately I just can't seem to get enough.  The color is perfect for fall and I love where they hit on my leg.
Anyway....
Today I'm wearing vintage jewelry and dress from tag*, thrifted hat and belt, and old boots from Marshals.
Total cost of outfit: about $25
*tag - Timeless Authentic Garments - my vintage shop in The Loop, University City, Missouri
I'm doing a bunch of updating today.  Updating blogs, the website, Facebook, etc.  I've been so busy with new merchandise and finding places to put it all that I haven't had a lot of time for other store-related projects lately.  So today is the day to play catch-up!
Picking Kevin up after work and bringing him home with me for an Ugly Betty slumber party at my house!  We're exiling Ryan to the basement with a new video game so we can take over the family room with Ugly Betty Season 1 Disc 2, frozen pizza, red wine, blankets and a fire in the fireplace.  Can't wait!
Happy Wednesday!!
P.S. I know I mention the store all the time in this blog, so I'm going to post some pictures soon.  Stay tuned....

Queen Catherine

Every time I come across an image of Ms. Catherine Baba, I am reminded of what fashion is truly about.  Its about creating your own style, being creative and having fun with fashion.  Far too many people out there either take fashion too seriously or just don't care at all.  The always fabulous Ms. Baba is the perfect example of having fun, taking risks and staying true to yourself, all the while making it look effortless.
(For those who are not familiar with her, Catherine Baba is a freelance stylist and consultant for a number of fashion houses and designers.)
I woke up a little blah this morning and instead of just throwing on the easiest thing, which is what I wanted to do, I turned to Queen Catherine for inspiration...
This fabulous sheer cape-like top came into the store yesterday and I just had to have it for myself.  So amazing!  I wasn't in the mood to even try for a cute outfit today, but then decided that's exactly what I needed to kick my butt into gear!  I paired my great new vintage piece with liquid leggings and animal print strappy heels. I went with big jewelry and pulled back hair to complete the look.
Wearing vintage top, F21 liquid leggings and heels, vintage and random jewelry.
Total cost of outfit: about $45
Happy Friday!!

a turban, vest and bells....

Ah, I can't believe its 5 o'clock already! I'm running out of time in my day...so much to do so little time. I'm usually off on Tuesday evenings, but I went to Kansas City over the weekend for a surprise engagement party for Ryan's brother and fiance. (A bonfire engagment party at her parent's house! Soo much fun!)Kevin worked the store for me like the rockstar that he is, which leaves me to close tonight. Even with being here all day, I STILL can't get it all done! But can't complain that the store is doing so well its keeping me busy :) If you're in the area come on by and check us out at 6314 Delmar!
Anyway, moving on...
I just couldn't resist pairing my awesome thrifted vintage vest with my new amazing bell bottoms.  They just seemed like the perfect combo today.  Threw on the turban headband at the last minute because the outfit just didn't seem complete.
Wearing F21 tunic tank, old UO cardigan, thrifted vintage vest, my favorite Seven For All Mankind bell bottoms, Payless boots, random turban headband, and vintage jewelry.
Total cost of outfit: about $200
Hope everyone is having a great day!

Saturday

Another busy day at the store so Mom, being the awesome Mom that she is, came down to help me out for a few hours.  We were busy helping people with last minute costumes, which is just so much fun!  Lots of great costumes, and I love the people who take the time to piece together the perfect costume versus just going and buying a prepackaged one.  A few of my personal favorites we've helped put together for customers this Halloween season...
Cruella DeVille
Yoko Ono
Strawberry Shortcake
Sonny and Cher
Cleopatra
Jack Nicholson in The Shining
Penny Lane
Hope everyone has a fun and safe Halloween!

Dark star crashes, pouring its light into ashes

Up close and personal...
It FINALLY feels like October here in St. Louis!  We have had an unseasonably warm fall and, while I should never complain about warm gorgeous weather, I have definitely been missing my fall temperatures.  So this morning when I went to walk my pup and it actually felt like October outside I couldn't have been happier :-)
So layers, flannel, fur and boots was my outfit plan for the day.  Wearing thrifted vintage boyscout shorts, GAP tank, vintage flannel and fur vest from tag*, gifted vintage boots, and vintage and random jewelry.
Total cost of outfit: about $35

Copycat

So I came across this picture on one of my favorite fashion blogs awhile ago. I kept going back to look at it over and over again because I was in awe of how this adorable girl made a country square dancing dress look so fashionable.

The Inspiration...

Then one day a country square dancing dress came into the store and every time I looked at it made me think of the girl above.  I put it out on the rack for awhile, but finally decided I had to at least give it a try.

The Outfit...
Think it turned out pretty cute!  I definitely used her for inspiration this time, but next time I will figure out a way to rock it differently.
Wearing vintage dress and belt, Payless boots, vintage and random jewelry.
Total cost of outfit: about $40
I heard on the radio this morning that people consider Tuesday to be the most depressing day of the week...well, I happen to love Tuesdays!  I've got my mom and Kev at the store helping me today, lots and lots to do!  Then Ry and I are having Jenna, her husband Lance, her parents and her brother Jarrett (who happens to also be my BFF) over for dinner tonight.  We are celebrating Jenna and Lance moving back to St. Louis, and we are saying farewell to Jarrett who is moving to New Orleans this weekend.  I'm so looking forward to seeing them all tonight!
So....HAPPY TUESDAY, EVERYONE!!!

Rompin' Around

I'm struggling with this transitional weather we're having here in St. Louis.  The temperatures are a bit warm for fall but all I want to wear is fall outfits. So I grabbed this summery romper and tried to figure out a way to make it work for October.  I paired it with my tough black boots and studded belt for some contrast to the floral print and light material.  I think it turned out pretty rockin!
Wearing vintage romper, Payless boots, old GAP blazer and random studded belt.
Total cost of outfit: about $45
Happy Monday!!!
